Surviving Summer

as a small business.

The summer can be a long, lonely, uphill battle for small business owners.

Sales can be slow, classes can be down on numbers, we may need to navigate the school hols, our dog walkers may be on holiday, we might actually like some time off ourselves….there are all kinds of reasons why the summer can be tricky for us…

Here are our top 5 tips to get through it with a little bit of sanity in tact!

1. Schedule posts & write blogs ahead of time.

Take some time to get these tasks done and save yourself a few hours a week.

2. Reuse & Repurpose content.

There is nothing wrong with regurgitating old social media posts, just see it as a way to remind your followers of who you are and what you’re about.

3. Build a Community.

Connect with some small businesses on social media and agree to like, share, repost, comment and save each others posts over the summer. Be each others champions! Share childcare with friends, share dog walks with neighbours, take it in turns to do the post office run, lean on each other and ask for help.

4. Plan ahead.

Let your customers and clients know in good time if availability is limited or if you are taking time off. Write lists and organise tip 3 in advance.

5. Don’t put pressure on yourself.

July and August can be very slow in small business land, so don’t panic too much if your social media presence is down during this period. Everyone needs a break and guess what…. they say entrepreneurs can get their best ideas when they take time off!!

I really hope there is something here to help, shout out to all of you small business owners!!
